Hi. I’m Hayley, the founder of DAYBAKE, and I live in Daybreak, a neighborhood in the Salt Lake Valley. I grew up in Utah, but I’ve had a few adventures elsewhere. I lived in England for a bit to study at Cambridge University. I also lived in Brooklyn, NY for a few years to get my Masters Degree.

During the weekdays, I’m a Content Director and Brand Consultant. In my spare time, I’m a poet, playwright, and amateur baker—big emphasis on the AMATEUR. I started cooking and baking as a kid; I’ve always been interested in making good food. These days, it’s all about baking, particularly bread.

I’ve started the DAYBAKE project to learn more about one of the things I love to do, BAKING! Here’s how I hope it will work. I’m going to post a baking project each week and share it in the hopes that I can build more community throughout the neighborhood in which I live. And that’s where my neighbors come in.

I’d love to have Daybreak Residents join me in this project. If you also love to bake and would enjoy sharing your favorite recipes on this site, please reach out. I’ll come over to your home, or you can come to mine, and I’ll document your recipe, write it up, and share it! Eventually, I hope to have enough neighbors participate in order to start a club where we get together and teach each other recipes and baking tricks. Maybe we could even write our own DAYBAKE cookbook someday…
