The Easiest Chocolate Cake You'll Ever Bake!
As National Chocolate Cake Day will soon be upon us, I thought I’d celebrate by baking the easiest chocolate cake of all time. This recipe was originally from Magnolia Bakery, then adapted by Deb Pearlman of Smitten Kitchen fame, then adapted by me, of no fame at all.
Here’s What You’ll Need
½ Cup Butter Softened
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1 Cup Whole Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
¾ Cup Dutch Cocoa
¼ Teaspoon Baking Soda
½ Teaspoon Baking Powder
¼ Teaspoon Salt
Here’s How to Make It
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and butter up a loaf pan.
Step 2: Cream together the Butter, Brown Sugar, Egg, Milk, and Vanilla. I used less sugar than the OG recipe called for, because I tend to like things a little less sweet. If you prefer things a little more sweet, add another ½ Cup of Sugar (Brown or Granulated).
Step 3: Add the Flour, Cocoa, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, and Salt into the bowl with the other ingredients and mix until you have a thick, rich batter. YUM!
Step 4: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and even it out with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Whether you choose to lick the spatula and/or bowl is your own business, but I won’t blame you, if you do.
Step 5: Bake for about 50 minutes to an hour. Try the toothpick test to make sure your cake is fully baked.
Step 6: Let your cake cool fully, then sprinkle with a little powdered sugar, if you like. Or don’t. How you eat it is your business.
Wasn’t that super easy?! Yeah! Enjoy!
