Utah's Famous Funeral Potatoes (Funeral Not Included)
This post may be a bit controversial due to the fact that I’m not sure if this even counts as baking, also, nobody has died. Can you call a potato recipe funeral potatoes without a funeral? All of this remains to be seen. Regardless, if you’re in the mood for something cheesy, creamy, crunchy, savory, and delicious, try this recipe for Utah’s Famous Funeral Potatoes (sans funeral). They’re the perfect comfort food.
Here’s What You’ll Need…
1 Bag of Frozen Hashbrowns
16 oz. Sour Cream
1 Can of Cream of Chicken Soup
2 Cups of Shredded Cheese
1 Cup of Fried Onions
1 Stick of Melted Butter
Salt & Pepper
A Few Handfuls of Corn Flakes (optional)
Here’s How to Make Them…
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, then butter a 9 x 9 casserole dish.
Step 2: In a large bowl, mix together your bag of frozen hashbrowns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, shredded cheese, fried onions, melted butter, plus a little salt and pepper.
Step 3: Pack your potato mixture into your buttered casserole dish.
Step 4: Crush a few handfuls of corn flakes and top your potatoes with them.
Step 5: Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Let them cool for about 10 minutes before serving–trust me on this last one…hot potatoes can burn your mouth no matter how good they taste!
